The Mighty M. Groudon

I drew this piece as something to relax with, since I'm on term break and that I just drew one of the hardest kaiju pics I ever did. Another thing, I think there's nothing wrong with submitting fanart right? So BEHOLD THE MIGHTY M. GROUDON!

I thought of this one day when I was repeatedly listening to this DELICIOUS theme [link] repeatedly, because I simply could not resist listening to the theme of one of my favorite Video Game villains, M. Bison. Meanwhile I was looking at Groudon images on DA and so I wanted to do a form of tribute to both.

Why do I like Bison? Well for starters, ever since I first tried to fight him in Street Fighter Alpha in an arcade in a bowling alley (age 6), all I could say was "THIS GUY IS SOOOO HARD!!!" and thus forth he was put in my favorite video game villain list, along with Eggman (I prefer the name Dr. Robotnik though), Bowser, Neo Cortex, and equally memorable Street Fighter, Akuma.

The other fact is that he is enjoyable villain in terms that he is hard, and he is powerful, but that he does not have to be this overly powered God-Mode sue that's just oh-so beautiful, angelic and "elegant". He's mean, he's got an awesome Slasher Smile, and his dictator look screams "I'm gonna fuck some shit up!". And he's pretty much a straight-forward villain, he simply "WANTS TO CONQUER THE WORLD" but makes it seem more interesting in the way, at least during the the time he was conceived, he was a villain who does not always need to really rely on his minions.

And now for the Pokemon side.
I love Pokemon, it was one of the first games I ever tried, and actually motivates me to be a gamer. For a long time, I did not like Legendaries, I simply didn't for some reason, my favorite pokemon were always Gyarados, Charizard, Nidoking, Golem and Steelix, and yes I do have a bias toward Dragon, Fire, and Earth Pokemon. The only Legendaries that I liked were Lugia and Ho-Oh. However as years past and my interest in Pokemon dwindled having it been replaced with RTS-fever, I stumbled upon... Groudon.

I just like Groudon so much, first of all he'd make a great Godzilla-style Pokemon, being a large dinosaur-looking creature that can hit hard and has a high health, and to me, one of the few legendaries that really stood amongst others. He definitely fits to what I think would be the quintessential "Prehistoric" Pokemon. His an earth type, and has lava-based attacks, he looks like a dinosaur, he's mean, he's big, he's strong and fairly slow.

Know why I did I choose Groudon mixed with M. Bison? Because I just thought it would look funny, after all their both big, red, and very powerful. I did not choose Mewtwo (a Psyche Pokemon) because he's just too overused, and I'm bored with him. Taurus (an actual Bison-like pokemon) would be too easy of a pun.

I changed the Lightning symbol on Bison's belt and hat to the "Ground" symbol based off a card I found, to fit more with the Pokemon theme. I also made Groudon more top-heavy because in most M. Bison art, his arms are like HUGE, not Zangief huge, but still really muscular.

And another thing I just realized when making this, a combination of Psycho power with Groudon's as well as his immense strength and size, mixed with M.Bison-level intelligence, would technically make him the most powerful being in the Pokemon Universe (excluding Arceus, why-oh-why did they have to make a God-Mode sue?), which means all the more reason to complete this picture.

The end result was more DELICIOUS than I expected, and so in triumph I even said "YES! YES!" since this also the first time I drew Groudon... ever... I haven't drawn Pokemon in like... a year... So now I can finally imagine M. Groudon looking down on Ass Ketchup , and Head Stomping him to oblivion .
