So... I finally had the chance to see Jurassic World! AND OH MY GOSH THE NOSTALGIA HIT ME HARDER THAN A TON OF BRICKS! It was so GOOD to see Rexy again... If you read my journal, you'll understand why the nostalgia meant a lot to me. One of which is that it help see again why I wanted to take animation in the first place... I dunno, I'm sentimental about growing up and dinosaurs.

But back to the art! The three dinosaurs from front to back are the baby rex, Rexy and the dad Tyrannosaurus rex from JPII (we'll call him buck). Growing they were my absolute favorite dinosaurs in any dinosaur media... ever... Rexy's scene with the raptors at the end of JP is still one of my favorite scene in films of all time, and in fact one of the scenes that mad me want to take animation in the first place, as it was an awesome piece of creature body action and emotion. Buck and baby rex are included because, for all of JP II's flaws, I LOVED the attack scene in San Diego, and Buck still holds the only title of destroying property in a city. AKA, the only T.rex that went full King Kong in the franchise... Plus he was just aggressive, he attacked literally everything in the city (That bus man! It didn't do anything to you!). If you were to pit Buck against the JPIII Spinosaurus, I'd actually bet Buck would win, being powered by pure rage (although I don't think he'd hold his own against I. rex more than Rexy did, Buck may be younger and full of rage... but he still has all the same disadvantages as Rexy, plus he's slightly smaller).. And of course baby rex, who was the first dinosaur in the franchise that I hoped wouldn't die, plus it's nice having a non-destructor dinosaur that's also a carnivore in the Jurassic Park franchise.

Regarding the art, I just felt like being monochromatic and using simple shaders for now. I wanted to test my skill on producing quality art quickly, unfortunately this took longer than needed. It was Hari Raya just a few days ago here in Jakarta, and that took up my time among other things, but I think my problem is just that I'm just too slow. I dunno, from now I'm making personal deadlines to prevent stuff like this happening.

This is my first "serious" dinosaur pic I've done in a long while, and hopefully won't be the last. I plan to have more drawn up, including ideas for yet, another animated concept for college I hope to pitch to school. But most importantly, I feel very energized to draw the things that inspired me to do art and animation in the first place... dinosaurs.
